If you are shopping for essentials.... then here is a list of some of the main places to go.

Food, there is a large grocery store in Sundridge, 8 km south of us, called the Foodland. If you want to sound like a 'local', call it the IGA, since that's what it was until last year! They are open daily and have a very complete stock of stuff. In South River, try the (other) Foodland, a little smaller than the Sundridge Foodland, but the still have a lot of stuff.

Hardware, the Home Hardware in Sundridge carries everything from forks to stoves, and from nails to dog treats, whatever you need, its there!

Clothes, things are a little bit soft in this area for clothes shopping, however, the Peoples Value store on Ottawa Ave. in South River does have an impressive amount of stuff, but its not exactly the Dolce and Gabbana in terms of style! Contact Max at (705) 386-0706. The Peoples Value store is also the local Sears Catalogue outlet.

If you are here on a Wed. (or every 2nd Thursday), why not try the Free! store. Also called Dorothy's store, it is operated by the Seventh Day Adventist Church. This shop has tons and tons of clothes, all for nothing! Pay only what you can (or what you choose to). The free store is located in the old liquour store, on Marie St. just West of the highway. It's a great place to go diving for deals!

In Sundridge, there are no clothiers, except for Zaks, which is a Health Food store which also sells a lots of ladies clothing. Or is it a ladies clothing store that also sells a lot of Health foods? Or....is it a holistic centre for the warming and healing of the whole person from the inside out and the outside in, balancing your Chakra energy with your Chi'i energy? Drugs, (not those kind) there are two pharmacies in the area, both are owned by the same person (just like the two gas stations in South River, but thats another story). In Sundridge the pharmacy is located on the Main St. and in South River, the pharmacy is located on Marie St. just East of the highway. Both of these phamacies are very good, and the folks behind the counter are very knowledgable, but don't get sick on a Sunday....

Other Drugs, there is a Beer store and a Liquour store in South River and there is a Beer/Liquour store in Sundridge.

Still more drugs, Lotto, Movies and Smokes, there is a Kwik Way convenience store in South River and in Sundridge there are 3 convenience stores. Cox's General Store is at the south end of town on Main street, and the Lakeview is located at the north end of town also on the Main st. Shirleen and Paul run the One Stop on the highway, across from The Blue Roof restaurant. They all rent movies as well, if you haven't had enough fun outside!
