This ride covers about 500 Km, and involves a full day of riding. From the lovely and charming Algonquin Motel head north on Highway 11 to North Bay, then follow Highway 17 to Sturgeon Falls. From Sturgeon Falls follow Highway 64 north through Field to Marten River. At Marten River take Highway 11 north (yes, farther) to New Liskeard, in the 'Clay Belt'. From New Liskeard take Highway 65 east across the border into La Belle Province and the town of Notre Dame du Nord. From Our Lady of the North, follow Highway 101 south along Lake Temiskaming and the Ottawa River to the town of Temiskaming, which is about 120 Km. Don't forget to buy some margarine while you are in Quebec, they have margarine that is the same colour as butter there.....contraband in Ontario! From Temiskaming follow Highway 63 south back into Ontario and down to North Bay. From North Bay follow Highway 11 southback to our hot showers and cold beer! This great (epic?) ride will give you a sense of the vast emptiness of the Northland and the folks who live there.
