We see some folks who know the area quite well and want to go canoeing in a new place. We also see folks who don't know the area very well and just want to paddle around for a few hours while still remaining in sight of town. Either way, we have lots of places for people to go! You could paddle (or drift) down the South River from one of the 'Bailey" bridges into Forest Lake, or you could rent a canoe or kayak from Tracs Outfitters and paddle around on South River, which is like a lake near town. The South River (lake) is nice for paddling since there are no power boats on it (too many deadheads)(not those kind of deadheads, man) and hardly any cottages or homes. Just go around the corner a little bit, and presto, your in the Wilderness (sort of). You can even rent canoes and kayaks in town! Click here for contact info. for Swift Canoe in South River. Martha and Tim sometimes like to throw the canoe in the back of the truck, and see where we end up......sometimes we get wet! Sometimes we don't! |
